Top Home Candle Safety Tips

While candles may seem cute and harmless, anything with an open flame indoors should be taken seriously for the safety of you, your family, and your home. Check out these top candle burning tips below, and check out our best selling OTD scented soy wax candles HERE.
1. Trim The Wick
Always trim your wicks to 1/4 inch before burning. You can do so by using scissors or nail clippers. This will help to avoid smoking and overheating.
2. First Burn
Whenever you first light a candle, allow it to burn long enough for the top layer to completely liquify. This ensures an even burn for each light.
3. Never Leave Burning Candle Unattended
Never leave a burning candle unattended, or near any drafts or anything that can catch fire (furniture, drapes, bedding, etc.). Keep out of reach of children and pets.
4. Burn Time
Follow manufacturer’s instructions on candle burn time. In general, candles should not burn for longer than four hours and cool for at least two hours before relighting. Never light a candle that has less than 1cm of wax at the base.
5. Extinguish
Extinguish your candle carefully by snuffing it rather than blowing it out, and never use water as this could possibly cause hot wax splatter or glass breakage. Allow the hot candle jar to completely cool before handling.
And there you have it!... How to burn candles safely in the comfort of your home.
