6 Self-Care Practices for This Fall Autumn Season
Fall is here! And while this may be a favorite season for many, it can also be a stressful time for others. Before we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of holidays, cold weather, and busy schedules, it's important to remember to implement self-care into our routines.
Self-care is necessary year-round. As the weather changes with the seasons, so do our self-care routines. Below are a few fall or autumn self-care tips. Enjoy!
1. Soak up nature
There are a few warm days still lingering as we get further into the fall season. Try to get outside and soak up as much sunshine as you can, even if only for a few minutes.
As the air becomes more crisp, throw on a sweater and enjoy a nice walk. Something as simple as light exercise and fresh air, while taking in the views of the foliage can be so soothing. You can also make this experience even more relaxing by bringing along some hot spiced tea or apple cider with you.
2. Create a fall workout routine
When the weather gets chilly, staying cozied up under the covers sounds much more appealing. This is a great form of self-care after a busy week, however, it's important to remember to stay motivated and implement some movement into your routine.
Many workout activities can be done in the warmth indoors. Consider signing up for a class with a friend, or finding some videos you can workout to in the comfort of your own home. Youtube is a great resource for this. From 5 minutes to hour long workouts, you'll surely be able to find the right workout that suits you.
3. Carve pumpkins
Or anything creative for that matter. Working with your hands is a great way to stimulate your mind and destress. Spending quality social time with friends or family is another good form of self-care. So, make this a group activity and invite some of your favorite people to join you.
Baking is always fun, especially when it's followed by eating. When it comes to fall, the recipes seem to become more festive and comforting. Experts have even begun to view baking as a therapeutic activity that can improve your mood. So why not?!
5. Bask in fall fun
Sometimes all you need for a little self-care is to do something fun! Something that makes you feel good and your heart smile. Here are some of our favorite fall autumn festivities:

- Find a local fall foodie festival
- Decorate for the season
- Cozy up with some pumpkin spice and your favorite book

6. Ask for help
If you don't feel as though you have enough time for self-care, or if you implement self-care but are still feeling moody or exhausted, it's okay to ask for help. Many of us tend to try and take on everything by ourselves, without "burdening" others. But asking for help when you need it doesn't make you a burden on anyone.
It's okay if you could use an extra hand during the busy holiday season. Or, if you find you could really use someone to talk to such as a friend or therapist, that's okay too. That's great, actually!
Remember, if we don't take care of ourselves stress builds up until we feel overwhelmed, exhausted, depressed, and physically sick.
